The International Contract Competition organized by the European Bars Federation (FBE- Verband Europäischer Rechtsanwaltskammern  -Federacion de los Colegios de Abogados de Europa - Federazione Degli Ordini Forensi d’Europa) and hosted by Warsaw Bar Association on October 7-9, 2016 was won by a team of two young lawyers, Atty. Sezil Durmuş and Atty. Selim Arda Gürata representing Istanbul Bar Association. The negotiations of international commercial contracts lasted for three days.

The FBE International Contract Competition is an international competition for young lawyers from all over Europe. This year, the first edition of the competition organized by FBE (Fédération des Barreaux d’Europe) and hosted by Warsaw Bar Association was held on 7–9 October 2016. Ten teams took part in the competition, from Germany, Poland, Romania, Spain and Turkey.

The competition has been a unique experience to observe how the participants from different jurisdictions across Europe negotiate contracts under conditions similar to those occurring in real life.

First place was won by Atty. Sezil Durmuş and Atty. Selim Arda Gürata from Istanbul Bar Association and 2nd place by Bianca Denisa Racolta and Clara Andreea Bârsan from Romania (Cluj Bar Association), with a tie for 3rd place between the second team representing the Istanbul Bar Association, Atty. Göktuğ Can Burul and Atty. Artemis Tosun and Borja Llonin Blasco and Alba Llamosas Marques from Bilbao, Spain (Ilustre Colegio de Abogados del Señorio de Bizkaia). Warsaw Bar Association was represented by Aleksandra Krzyżanowska and Karolina Hawryluk.

The official ceremony for the announcement of the winners was held in Ujazdowski Palace. The cups were granted to the winning team by Monika Calkievicz, the Vice-President of Warsaw Bar Association, while the first-place winner Durmuş&Gürata were also invited to Luxembourg for the FBE Intermediate Congress on October 13-15, 2016 by the Presidency of FBE. 

The teams to represent Istanbul Bar Association were selected among many applicants following an interview process by a commission of 5, chaired by Atty. A. Metin Uracin-Chairman of the Foreign Relations Center of Istanbul Bar Association. Foreign Relations Coordinator of Istanbul Bar Association Ece Basmacı Karalar was among the delegation.

The international delegation of judges in the FBE Competition were as follows:
