LAW SOCIETY OF IRELAND AND IRISH HONORARY CONSUL VISIT ISTANBUL BAR ASSOCIATION
Law Society of Ireland and the Irish Honorary Consul to Istanbul paid a visit to Istanbul Bar Association on January 11, 2013.
Board Member of the Law Society of Ireland Attracta ORegan (Attorney-at-Law) and Irish Honorary Consul in Istanbul Jim Gearry were welcomed by the Vice-President of Istanbul Bar Association Att. Mehmet Durakoğlu and a Board Member of Istanbul Bar Association Att. Hasan Kılıç.
Attracta ORegan expressed that it would be a pleasure for the Law Society of Ireland to cooperate with Istanbul Bar Association. At the meeting also attended by Att. A. Metin Uracin, Chairman of the Foreign Relations Center of Istanbul Bar Association and Att. Cem Sofuoğlu, Co-Chairman of the EU Law Commission of Istanbul Bar Association, ORegan, Rule of Law Initiative Course Leader in the Law Society of Ireland, informed that they have 9000 members, all being solicitors, and they would be honored by any joint project to be realized with Istanbul Bar Association, one of the biggest bar associations worldwide. Attracta ORegan indicated that the Bar Council of Ireland is a separate professional body that regulates the profession of barristers. Irish Honorary Consul in Istanbul Jim Gearry expressed that it is pleasing to have improving relations with Turkey in every field in recent years.
The meeting was also attended by Att. Güney Bigat and Att. Sevgi Çelik, both being the members of the EU Law Commission of Istanbul Bar Association.
